A CT Imaging Day in the Highlands!

It’s not every day you find yourself face-to-face with a Japanese Macaque, a Cuscus, a Meerkat and a Baer’s pochard duck but that’s exactly what happened when our mobile CT scanner and imaging team visited the Highland Wildlife Park in Scotland.

Working alongside the Wildlife Park’s expert team, our veterinary-trained radiographers helped to scan these extraordinary animals and deliver the high-quality diagnostic images needed to support their ongoing care and treatment.

“Ishin”, the Japanese Macaque, had been experiencing frequent nosebleeds. Thanks to our on-site CT imaging, the Highland Wildlife Park’s veterinary team were able to determine the cause quickly and without the added stress of long-distance travel.

For us, days like these are a reminder of just how versatile advanced imaging can be. Leaving the Highlands, our team felt privileged to have played a part in supporting such remarkable animals.

While our mobile scanners are regularly used for companion animals, we’re also proud to provide flexible solutions for zoos, wildlife parks, and sea life centres, where access to CT or MRI can be invaluable in safeguarding the health of rare and exotic species. By bringing our scanners directly to site, patient stress is minimised, and, as in Ishin’s case, veterinary teams gain immediate access to essential diagnostic tools that can make a real difference to treatment planning and outcomes.

If your practice, zoo, or wildlife centre could benefit from advanced imaging, our specialist team would be delighted to discuss how we can help. Simply email enquiries@burgessdiagnostics.com
